The Current Retail Scene:
Livonia is the home to two major malls and many strip centers throughout
the community.
Laurel Park Place is a very popular, upscale shopping destination, which
is anchored by Parisian, Von Maur and includes many other high-end retailers.
A Marriott hotel and office building adjoin the mall. The mall is located
at the northwest corner of Six Mile and Newburgh roads.
Livonia Mall, at Middlebelt and Seven Mile Road, is one of the major
shopping destinations in the community. The mall includes many craft
and antique dealers, specialty shops and is anchored by Sears, Mervyns,
and Crowleys Value City.
Another shopping destination is the Plymouth Road Corridor. The Plymouth
Road Development Authority has spent millions of dollars revitalizing
Livonia's original commercial center. Extensive landscaping, brickwork,
lighting, and other improvements have helped to revitalize the area and
attract new investment.
The Millennium Park area just off of I-96 attracts many people from
surrounding cities with its mix stores, including Meijer, Home Depot,
Wal-Mart, and Costco.
There are also many strip centers throughout Livonia that are located
at or near most major intersections.
Livonia is also the home to over 200 local restaurants ranging from
fine dining to fast-food.
With its excellent location and above average per-capita income, it's
easy to see why the city is one of the most sought-after places to do
business in metro Detroit.
